Getting cheap tickets this summer ( Part 2 )

The concluding part on tips to gaurantee you cheap flight tickets as you go on vacation in few weeks time are below...
Round Trip vs One way: Its cheaper to get a round trip ticket for an International flight but wise to compare both first.
Use major airport hubs: The lowest fares can be found if arriving and departing from major airport hubs. In the USA, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago are your best bets. Internationally, Dubai, Heathrow, Tokyo and Bnagkok are your best bet.
Fly National Airlines of developing countries: Since many developing countries such as Ethiopia and Kenya lack sufficient local customers, tickets are sold cheap to fill seats.

Buy your tickets in advance: It is normally best to buy your tickets in advance but sometimes you can get luck if buying 1 week before your departure date as airlines try to fill seats by offering discounts.
Hope these help, do keep me posted on your success. Cheers

Making an online hotel booking from Nigeria

Online booking becomes one of the most common means to make good deals. There are few tips that will help you to book with the best quality/price ratio.
Go to Booking.com
Use search box to select your travel dates and place
Submit your search
In the result page, use the headers to sort the view by Price, Ratings or other criteria
Our advice, sort by users recommendations then browse them down to a suitable price for you
Select the appropriate offer and number of rooms and click on Book
Enter your credit card details and submit them to guarantee your booking.
Caution: pay attention to cancellation policy

Booking Tips

  • The earliest you start lookingg for your hotel, the best deals you can find. Great destinations like Paris, London, Rome and Barcelone are saturated very early and the few good deals are taken months in advance.
  • Try to be flexible as much as you can with your dates, as some periods are specially expensive.
  • Use the most famous online booking website, Booking.com is the typical example of a website that has wholesale partnership with thousands of hotels. This way they can get the best prices and offer them to you.
  • Check transport options and area of interest, the best hotels for you is not necessarily downtime.
If you are really sure of your travel dates, take a prepaid (non refundable) deal, they are the cheapest offers ever

Getting cheap tickets this summer ( Part 1 )

Summer is here and many people have traveled or will be traveling for summer vacation by air. Despite the rising price of airfare, it is still possible to find cheap tickets. Below are a few basic but often overlooked tips that if implemented can help you find a flight that won’t break the bank.
Fly on Wednesday: Past records show that WEDNESDAY is the cheapest day of the week to fly as a result of lower consumer demand.
Fly in SEPTEMBER: Right after summer holidays in Europe and America in the month of September is perfect because Airlines experience a decreased demand therefore they offer cheap fares to compensate for seat surplus.
Will finish my research in few hours then fill you in on the remaining tips of getting cheap tickets ahead of summer vacation.

The blatant extortion of Nigerians by the British Immigration Rules

I am very worried by the proposed plan of the UK Government to make citizens ( first time visitors who have been issued 6 months visas ) of selected countries including Nigeria, pay 750,000 Naira ( 3,000 pounds ) deposit to discourage the individuals from overstaying in the UK. Please note that the UK visa fees for Nigerians is the most expensive among other diplomatic missions in Nigeria.
I am also worried that in no distant time, some other countries will follow in the steps of the British Government and subject well meaning Nigerians to this extortionist game plan.
I am more worried that our Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue sitting idly by without taking adequate steps to address this issue and spare us further disregard and disrespect by countries who benefit immensely from Nigeria in many ways.

Interview-Waiver at the German Embassy

Persons who have travelled within the last 24 months at least 3 times to the Schengen States with a Schengen visa or once with a one-year multiple entry visa issued by this Consulate General qualify for the Interview Waiver option. This means these persons are required to book an appointment, however, they are NOT required to submit their applications in person (but can bring the application through a third). They are also exempt from the interview- thus shortening the process considerably.

Please understand that dealers of spare parts, used cars or other used goods are not eligible for this scheme.

a) The following applicants do not need an appointment:
  • frequent travellers (applicants who have travelled to Schengen states, USA, UKor Canadaat least three times within the past 24 months)
  • applicants for transit visas
  • urgent  medical treatment
  • applicants on official duty ("note verbale holders" only)
  • experts participating in scientific / academic conferences
These applicants may appear in person at the visa section of the German Consulate-General from Monday to Friday at 6.30 a.m. Only those applicants who present a complete application form together with all the required documents (including one copy of each original) will be admitted.

Visa fees for schengen countries

The visa fees are fixed in Euro and payable in naira according to an exchange rate which we revise from time to time. The current fee for all visa categories is 60,- Euros (about 13.000,- Naira, depending on the exchange rate).

Children under the age of 6 years are exempt from the visa fee if applying for a Schengen Visa, the visa fee for minors aged 6-12 years is 35,- Euros.

The fee for a long-term visa for all children under the age of 18 is 30,- Euros (about 6500,- Naira).

Spouses and minor children of German nationals as well as parents of German minor children are exempt from the visa fee for all visa categories.

Under certain conditions there might be a reduction / exemption from the general visa fee - however, these circumstances are checked by the visa officer during the submission of the application.
