Interview-Waiver at the German Embassy
Persons who have travelled within the last 24 months at least 3 times to the Schengen States with a Schengen visa or once with a one-year multiple entry visa issued by this Consulate General qualify for the Interview Waiver option. This means these persons are required to book an appointment, however, they are NOT required to submit their applications in person (but can bring the application through a third). They are also exempt from the interview- thus shortening the process considerably.
Please understand that dealers of spare parts, used cars or other used goods are not eligible for this scheme.
a) The following applicants do not need an appointment:
- frequent travellers (applicants who have
travelled to Schengen states, USA, UKor Canadaat
least three times within the past 24 months)
- applicants for transit visas
- urgent medical treatment
- applicants on official duty ("note verbale
holders" only)
- experts participating in scientific / academic conferences
Visa fees for schengen countries
The visa fees are fixed in Euro and payable in naira according to an exchange rate which we revise from time to time. The current fee for all visa categories is 60,- Euros (about 13.000,- Naira, depending on the exchange rate).
Children under the age of 6 years are exempt from the visa fee if applying for a Schengen Visa, the visa fee for minors aged 6-12 years is 35,- Euros.
The fee for a long-term visa for all children under the age of 18 is 30,- Euros (about 6500,- Naira).
Spouses and minor children of German nationals as well as parents of German minor children are exempt from the visa fee for all visa categories.
Under certain conditions there might be a reduction / exemption from the general visa fee - however, these circumstances are checked by the visa officer during the submission of the application.

Fresh info from the German Embassy
Do you know
that on the 14th of March 2013, the German Embassy in Abuja and the
German Consulate General in Lagos commenced working with the Visa Information
System (VIS). People applying for a visa for the first time MUST APPLY IN PERSON according
to them, so that the necessary biometric data – ten
fingerprints and a digital photo – can be collected.
This is a lovely
development I must say
